All while understanding that **together** we are even better. **Schedule:** Full Time **Shift** : Day 8am-5pm * As needed per Emergency Management Team Responses **_The community you'll be caring for: Orlando Campus_** Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,368-bed AdventHealth Orlando Serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America AdventHealth Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country We are already one of the busiest hospitals in the nation, providing service excellence to more than 32,000 inpatients and 125,000 outpatients each year **The role you'll contribute:** Under the direction of the System Safety Director, the Emergency Management Specialist plans, develops and oversees the All-Hazard approach to emergency response and recovery activities at AdventHealth. The EM Specialist provides for the design and implementation of disaster response to incidents involving AdventHealth entities and personnel. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. **The value you'll bring to the team:** Manages the Comprehensive Emergency Management Plans. This includes the management of Hazard Vulnerability Assessments (HVAs) for all applicable areas. Maintains good relationships with other departments in the hospital and interacts effectively with Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Service (EMS), Fire, and Police community agencies. Maintains and educates an effective plan for all facilities in the arena of disaster response and emergency management. Plans and coordinates at least 2 drills annually at each hospital with one being a mass casualty event and one being an internal event. One of these will also be community-coordinated as per Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO)/Det Norske Veritas (DNV) guidelines. Maintains accurate records of drills, critiques, community meetings, and real events. Engages with campuses for the completion of Corrective Action Plans associated with After Action Reports. Participates in the Emergency Management Committee and facilitates its operation. Participates and coordinates with community, state and federal partners/agencies on the management of grant activity. Provides for and coordinates the required training for all hospital employees on basic emergency and disaster management. This includes venues such as Decontamination, Hospital Incident Command System (HICS), Emergency Codes, etc. Follows and enforces appropriate safety policies including the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), handwashing, and hazardous chemical handling. Demonstrates understanding and adheres to Chemical Hygiene plan and Infection Control policies. Employee job duties may include transport of hazardous waste from the point of generation to a designated secure storage area; employee will be required to complete initial training (prior to handling hazardous waste) and refresher training to include proper handling and transport of hazardous waste, and proper selection, use and disposal of personal protective equipment. Qualifications **The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed** **:** **KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:** Knowledge of the Incident Command Structure and the understanding of the interrelationships, responsibilities, goals and functions of local, state and federal government in planning and implementing emergency services. Knowledge of Command Center/Emergency Operations Center functions at various agency levels. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, to a wide variety of people and audiences. The ability to prepare comprehensive detailed reports and plans. To read, interpret, comprehend and apply written and verbal policies, procedures, rules, regulations and laws. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with a variety of agencies, organizations, and individuals. Basic medical and hospital administrative knowledge to understand the aspects of emergency response within the healthcare structure. Understanding of Emergency Management requirements as stated within National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Det Norske Veritas (DNV)/National Integrated Accreditation for Healthcare (NIAHO), Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and other regulatory bodies associated with the healthcare industry. Understanding of ISO and its application within Emergency Management. **_KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:_** Practical knowledge of response to emergency situations, and the ability to control emergency situations with an intelligent and calm demeanor. Knowledge of the Incident Command Structure as it applies to healthcare facilities **EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:** Associates Degree in Crisis/Emergency/Disaster Management or Healthcare related field **AND/OR** 7 years of experience performing emergency management duties, disaster planning, education, and policy and procedure development. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Technician Level 1910.120 **_EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:_** Bachelors degree in Crisis/Emergency Management or Healthcare related field 5 years working experience in a healthcare environment involving disaster planning and emergency response **LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:** Incident Command Center (ICS) 100, 200, 700, 800 from an approved education provider that follows the FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) Guidelines. **_LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:_** Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional (CHEP) Florida Professional Emergency Manager (FPEM) or FPEM-Healthcare Certified Hazard Control Manager (CHCM) This facility is an equal opportunity employer and complies with federal, state and local anti-discrimination laws, regulations and ordinances.
